Nylon Cover (Genre Research)
After much thought I decided that I wanted my magazine to center around women of all ages and ways to empower them whether it is through music, beauty, or fashion. I actually had trouble finding magazines that could convey this message because while there were many magazine about beauty and fashion its focus was not necessarily empowering women but rather using them as models and encouraging other women to change themselves to be like those models. This is something I found quite troubling but it only inspired me to search further and to create my magazine. I did find magazines in the feminism genre online but they were not available for me to open and see without a subscription. Eventually I found "Nylon" on the Miami-Dade Public Library system and although it is not exactly how I want my magazine to be, it is in the genre.
