Since I last posted I have been thinking quite a bit about the format of my cover and the title of it. I know I love flowers and since the beginning have been heavily inspired by them but I just realized that it won't go too well with the picture I plan to shoot for the cover. I want the model to be in her police uniform and I feel like that doesn't match the "flower vibe" and although I said I wanted to do the two sides of her I just don't think that it would look nice. I have been researching how to shoot and edit a picture like that but I have yet to see a magazine cover with that idea executed nicely. For that reason, I am just going to focus on one picture of my model and in the feature spread I will look at her "both sides."

For the title, since I am not doing the flowers on the cover I want to change the title to something else: power. My magazines goal is to empower women and the cover will be of my model in a police uniform so I feel like that will be the most fitting. The masthead I am planning will be the word power but instead of an o, the Venus sign which is associated with the female sex. This will definitely make it clear that the intended audience is women. I hope to still include bold colors but the color scheme will ultimately depend on the clothes that my model is wearing. I want to include at least one really bold color like maybe bright yellow, neon pink, or electric blue.
As for the font I have decided
on Franklin Gothic Medium Condensed. It is a pretty basic font and it is also Sans Serif which is what I wanted from the start to make sure the cover looks modern and fun. I want the focus to be more on the model and the colors that I use so the fact that the font is not extravagant is perfect for my case. The model will be in the center of the magazine and the picture will be from the waist up, enough for you to see her uniform but also enough to see her face clearly.

I have officially decided the front cover anchors. There will be 4. I figure that is just the right amount, not too much too little and each has its own way of enticing the reader. The main one of course will deal with the model so it will say "Darling Lorenzo "you can be both."" The others intrigue the readers to open the magazine "10 steps towards a happier you," "why our vote counts," and "A twist on a fairytale: Mirror, mirror on the wall grant equality to us all!" The one about 10 steps is a classic technique that a lot of magazines use to entice readers. They take something that everyone wants (a better body, a healthy diet, etc) and find a way for you to achieve it in 5 or 10 easy steps. Who wouldn't want to find out how to be happier? "Why our vote counts," this anchor takes it from you to us, from my to our, this is important because it forms a connection between the reader and the magazine. Lastly, the twist on the fairytale is clever and makes the reader want to know more about it, like how the magazine combine a classic fairytale and a serious matter like equality.
Overall, I think I am ready to shoot the pictures for my cover and move forward. The only things I am not one hundred percent sure about are the background of the cover and the exact color scheme but I will figure that out as soon as I take the pictures.
